Too busy or not important enough?

Are you too busy or is it not a priority?

Since I have heard the quote about being busy, it really makes me think about where things fall in my life regarding priority. Cooking dinner is a high priority since my family and I need to eat! Learning to knit a sweater is a low priority since I have many of them and prefer to fill my free time with other things, therefore it is not a high priority!

When someone comes in my office and says they are so busy and can't find the time to work out, often it only takes a few minutes of questions to determine that they actually CAN work out but choose instead to sleep an extra hour or watch TV in the evenings instead of fitting in fitness.

Fitness can be something as simple as choosing to park further and take the stairs as often as possible, or it can be something as complicated as scheduling a small group training session twice a week!

Often, the best time to exercise in just about any schedule is first thing in the morning. But if I told you that getting in shape requires some schedule changes, that word "change" can easily trip clients up!

So having a hard time with fitness oftentimes is not the fitness itself, but the CHANGE in your life it brings! Working out early requires more sleep, which means a change in bed time. Eating healthy requires more preparation, which means a CHANGE in your shopping and meal preparation.

With our Christmas in July events this week, it is a good time to examine how YOU deal with change! Do you have a hard time with it? How can you approach it in a positive way? How can you make some positive changes in YOUR life?

Hint: recruit a fellow friend or team member to assist you in supporting your change, and encourage you to stay on the path when the change you've made becomes difficult!

Happy holidays, everyone!
