I'm starting to hear that word we hear around this time of year...holiday. The holidays can mean so many different things to each person, but they usually include celebrations of some kind and more access to treats and food.
While that in it's simplest form is harmless, party after party, an abundance of sweets around, and a busier than usual schedule can easily sidetrack any diet and exercise program...IF YOU LET IT!! How can you holiday-proof yourself and your fitness? Here are a few tips:
1. Start getting on a regular exercise regimen NOW rather than after or during the holiday season. This will allow you to form the healthy habit of working out on the regular and keep you on a schedule through the holidays. Making new workout friends will also keep you motivated and working out with support through the holidays!
2. Increase your water. Super simple and yet, it seems many people are more dehydrated than they think! Did you know if you are hungry, chances are you are also more thirsty?
3. Set some goals. Working toward a specific goal during this time will allow you to stay laser focused on that goal rather than allow yourself to overeat or not workout.
4. Eat slower. Sure, your friend's home made mac and cheese dish looks amazing, but eating as fast as you can will allow you to eat a) more food and b) to overfull status. Take a breath, put your fork down, and converse a bit while eating. You'll enjoy your food and company that much more while not feeling regret after your meal.
